How it all started
“One of my biggest challenges as a new parent was when I started feeding my little one with solids”
My first baby boy Nikita came into my life and rocked my world on every level; not only did I discover what it meant to become a parent, but it also taught me a lot about myself. Everything was running smoothly until it was time to start weaning my baby. I didn’t expect this to be such a challenge.
Preparing my baby's food suddenly became a rather scary mission! I didn’t know where to start nor how, but I knew I wanted to prepare home-made, healthy meals. His dishes needed to be increasingly diverse as he grew, which meant I had to be creative. More importantly, I was determined to avoid refined sugars and processed foods in our household.
“With some practice, a bit of courage and full of good intention, I rediscovered my passion for food”
As I worked to create healthier alternatives to feed my family, I realised the pleasure it provided and the benefits it had for my kids well-being. While carefully selecting the ingredients for my family’s meals, I learnt a lot about nutrition. This led me to adopt a totally different approach to food. I respected it more and realised how crucial it was to make cooking fun and responsible.
Undoubtedly, preparing home-made meals can be pretty time consuming. Whether you have a full household or a demanding job, cooking balanced meals for the family can be quite a hefty task. Still, I wasn’t ready to let my busy schedule step in my way. I had to find a solution. I thought it through and came up with a more functional way to organise myself.
“I naturally navigated towards making my cooking experience more practical and simple”
This even turned out to be eco-friendlier! Healthy home made meals can be easy, without having to compromise on the taste and the presentation.
Seeing my little ones enjoying their food had a knock-on effect with my friends. They, too, were inspired to prepare home-made meals for their own families.
This has led to the creation of Cooking with Clio.
My philosophy today
Passionate and devoted, I have created this food philosophy to show you how easy it can be! My objective is to help you feel confident in the kitchen and hopefully turn your cooking experience into something not only healthy, but also fun, creative and sustainable.
We are what we eat
My goal is to help you prepare healthy meals for your family, with effortless recipes using nutritious ingredients. Avoiding refined sugars and ready made meals has never been so easy. I’m a firm believer that you can improve the well-being of your children by adopting a healthier approach to food.
Express your creativity
With some inspiring recipes, I am truly seeking to help you gain confidence in the kitchen and to become a little more adventurous! There’s a huge variety of healthy options, allowing you to be creative with new foods and flavours. All the fun starts when you decide to experience the combination of textures and flavours. It’s never too early to start, even for a baby!
Buy less, chose well
The good news is, you will save money, reduce food waste and optimise storage space. On top of having a much healthier way of life. It’s more than just making food, it’s a lifestyle. Plan your meals ahead, manage your leftovers, organise your kitchen space and recycle. It’s so much more sustainable!
Be a role model
Our infants constantly want to learn from us, they mimic everything we do! By showing your love and appreciation for food, chances are they will be passionate about food too! Whenever possible, sit and enjoy your meal with your children, eat the same menu and encourage them to participate in the kitchen. Lead by example, is the motto. I quickly noticed that by inspiring my children to appreciate nutritious/healthy food, they automatically set the right example around them too!
